We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with Qwick, and will be supporting their network of 590,000 US-based freelancers with their 2022 taxes!
Founded in 2017, Qwick is the professional platform at the heart of hospitality that matches experienced industry freelancers with shifts at restaurants, hotels, caterers, stadiums and more, in real time. Having just announced a $40M round of Series B funding, Qwick serves as hospitality’s through-line in 23 cities and is trusted by over 7,000 businesses.

Qwick has earned multiple national recognitions and is the 32nd fastest-growing company in the U.S. on the 2022 Inc. 5000 list.

Why did Qwick choose Keeper?

Qwick freelancers — like so many 1099 workers in the US — tend to have more complicated tax situations when compared to full-time employees. Freelancers on the Qwick platform compile numerous tax deductible business expenses throughout the year, including uniform expenses, job-related equipment and tools, transportation and vehicle costs. Also like many 1099 workers, Qwick freelancers often have multiple sources of income, which adds even more complexity to their tax filing experience.

“We aim to provide our freelancers with as much support as possible with respect to how they work, and how they handle their taxes is a critical component of that,” said Qwick's VP of Brand, Tracy McGinnis. “We've heard great things about Keeper from the freelance community, so we're excited to establish a formal partnership with Keeper and help the Qwick crew simplify tax season.”

Before Keeper, and in order to get full credit on their taxes, freelancers had to keep hold of paper receipts, and had to maintain Excel spreadsheets just to keep track of their expenses — only to then have to manually enter them into a traditional tax software, expense by expense…

This process was so onerous — and required such extreme manual record keeping — that many of Qwick’s freelancers chose to forego their write-offs altogether, paying for the cost of their work-related expenses out of their own pocket.

That’s why we’re thrilled to be partnering with Qwick for tax year 2022: so that we can put money back into freelancers’ pockets, to minimize the anxiety of tax filing for the people who help keep our hospitality institutions running well, and to serve those who serve us!
